Overview

TakeHomeCompare (“we”, “us”, “our”) respects your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data. We aim for plain language over legalese.

Data We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

  • Account information — Email address, hashed password, and subscription tier when you create an account.
  • Assessment data — Your responses to our compensation assessment questionnaire (role, salary, location, experience, etc.).
  • Uploaded documents — Resumes uploaded for analysis are processed and stored temporarily for the duration of the analysis session.
  • Coaching transcripts — Text and voice coaching session transcripts to provide continuity across sessions.
  • Device identifiers — For anonymous users, we generate a device ID stored in your browser’s local storage to maintain session state.
  • Usage data — Pages visited, features used, and aggregate interaction metrics to improve the platform.

How We Use Your Data

  • To generate personalised compensation diagnoses, salary comparisons, and negotiation strategies.
  • To provide AI coaching sessions tailored to your career situation.
  • To process payments and manage subscriptions through our payment provider.
  • To improve our analysis models and platform features using aggregated, anonymised data.
  • To send transactional emails (account confirmation, password reset, billing notifications).

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your individual data for advertising.

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on secure infrastructure. Our database is hosted on Railway (PostgreSQL) with encryption at rest. File uploads (resumes, exports) are stored in Cloudflare R2 with server-side encryption and automatic expiration policies. All data transmission uses TLS 1.2 or higher.

Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the platform:

  • Stripe — Payment processing. Stripe handles all payment card data directly; we never see or store your card numbers.
  • Hume AI — Voice coaching sessions. Audio is processed in real-time and not permanently stored by Hume.
  • OpenRouter — AI model routing for text-based coaching and analysis features.

Each provider operates under their own privacy policy. We encourage you to review them.

Cookies

We use essential cookies for authentication and session management. We do not use third-party tracking cookies or advertising cookies. Your authentication token is stored as an HTTP-only cookie.

Your Rights

You have the following rights regarding your data:

  • Access — View all data we hold about you via your Dashboard settings.
  • Export — Download your data in a portable format from your Dashboard.
  • Deletion — Request complete deletion of your account and associated data from your Dashboard settings.
  • Correction — Update your personal information at any time through your account settings.
  • Objection — Object to specific uses of your data by contacting us.

These controls are available directly in your Dashboard under “Privacy & Data.” For EU/UK residents, these rights are provided under GDPR. We aim to respond to all data requests within 30 days.

Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Assessment snapshots and coaching transcripts are retained to provide historical comparison features. If you delete your account, all associated data is permanently removed within 30 days. Uploaded resumes are automatically deleted after 24 hours.
